Bantams
The Stowe Bantams played their final two games of the regular season last weekend. The team will have this weekend off before going to the state playoffs in Montpelier.
Saturday the Raiders traveled to Rutland to take on the Jr. Spartans. There was a lot of back-and-forth play between these well-matched teams and the game ended up a 3-3 tie. Stowe earned one goal in each period, the first coming from Max Carr with assists from Same Lively and Addison Bellavance. Carr assisted Lively in the second-period goal. Lively also scored the final goal of the game, with help from Keegan Loughran.
On Sunday, the Bantams hosted Central Vermont in a high-energy game. Stowe got off to an early lead with two unmatched goals in the first period. Again, the first goal came from Carr with assistance from Lively and Bellavance. Lively scored the next goal with assistance from Sebastian James and Grayson Brewster.
In the second period, Lively scored two more unanswered goals, both assisted by Carr, for a hat trick. Central Vermont scored first in the third period. That goal was answered by Sam Robertson, with assistance from Nate Rice. The final score was 5-1 Stowe.

Squirts A Team
This weekend the Squirts faced off twice against Harwood in a Saturday-Sunday double-header. On Saturday, Harwood opened the scoring early in the first period, causing Stowe to trail when Henry Paumgarten scored the first of his two goals. The second period again started off with Harwood coming out strong, slipping a goal past net minder Kai Taylor. Then, with only minutes remaining in the period, Trey Jones brought the puck down the ice and sent it home to again tie the score. Less than a minute later, Paumgarten received the puck from Cam Anderson and backhanded it into the top of the net putting Stowe ahead for good 3-2.
On Sunday, the two teams met at the Stowe Arena for a mid-morning faceoff. Stowe opened the scoring in the first with the hard work of Hayden Tibbitts who netted an unassisted goal. Unfortunately for Stowe, the scoring shut down while Harwood tallied one each period for a 3-1 victory.

Squirts B Team
On Saturday, Feb. 8, the Stowe Squirts B Team played their rivals from Missisquoi at the Stowe Arena.
Bo Graves controlled the puck during faceoff, passing to Tristen Love who shot many times on goal. Adam Glanz showed good stick handling skills, passing to teammates.
Charlie Davidow helped to protect our goal with his solid defense of the net. Thanks goes to Andrew Libby for deflecting the many pucks that were shot at him.
Jordan Goodwin had a break during the first period to score, leaving the score 1-0.
Alex Lamphere and Jackson Graham worked together with David Gosselin who fiercely attacked MAHA’s net.
Aaron Lippikko had a break in the third period, but MAHA’s goalie stood strong.
Avery Rosamilla, Radek Dvorack and Ivan Stancliff played their hardest to protect our goal and succeeded.
Stowe shut out MAHA 1-0.

Mites
The Stowe Mites faced off Sunday at home against Harwood in their second-to-last game of the season. After a great pre-game speech by the coaches, the team was ready to go. The players hit the ice skating hard and goals by Kate Tilgner, Isabel Donza, Bo Graves, Aaron Lepikko, Andrew Libby, Nate Nolan, Derek Baxter and Ashton Tibbits led to a tie and a win. Great defense and near goals by Rudd Day, Calvin James and Liam Newhouse made for a dramatic show, and goalies Jesse Brown and Cooper Shove played stellar games and made fantastic saves. Carrick Wright, Noah Taylor and Brandon Allen fought hard and made some great supportive plays.
It was amazing to watch this group’s transformation from their first game through the (almost) end of the season. With newfound skills and confidence, in addition to the leadership of the second- and third-year Mites, they all really look and are playing like a team.
Coaches Nick Donza and Zack Taylor deserve credit for their patience, determination and dedication to helping the kids learn to play and respect the game of hockey and have fun doing so. They should all be proud of how hard they worked all season.
