The inaugural Stick Season Showdown will take place Nov. 10-12 at the Stowe Arena.
The weekend hockey tournament is a fundraiser for Stowe Youth Hockey, with all proceeds benefiting athletes — assisting with scholarships, equipment, skill training, tournaments and various other costs associated with youth hockey.
The event is open to co-ed and girls’ teams in the 10-and-under and 12-and-under age ranges.
Teams will be determined by a point system — 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss. A half point will be awarded for each period won, meaning 3.5 points is the most a team could earn in one game.
The two teams with the most points will move on to semi-finals on Sunday.
The focus for this tournament is fun and participation. Many of these teams do not have tournaments geared for this level of play so the organizers’ goal is to provide an opportunity for the players and parents to be involved and have some fun will still being able to compete for a championship.
