A heating failure canceled a meeting on Monday at which FairPoint Communications planned to outline the service improvements it wants to make in Stowe.
However, the Reporter was able to catch up with the company’s representatives.
Angelynne Beaudry, FairPoint’s director of corporate communications, said the company would have told the Stowe Planning Commission about equipment upgrades on just over 100 Stowe roads, including well-traveled areas such as Route 100 and Weeks Hill Road and dead-end streets like White Gates Lane and Manelicks Drive.
A small percentage of those updates were funded by the Federal Communications Commission’s Connect America Fund, but the majority of the updates came out of FairPoint’s pocket.
Equipment updates started in the summer and were completed last month.
People whose service has been affected by the FairPoint equipment updates are already starting to see speed increases, Beaudry said.
Stowe town officials don’t know yet when the planning commission will reschedule its meeting with FairPoint, but Beaudry said it will be early in the new year.
