Last week we had a take-out Chinese dinner from Morrisville. My brother drove through the “big storm” of our season and we did enjoy it thoroughly at his house with the whole family.
At the end came Fortune Cookie time, and everybody got a different message. Mine went something like this: “When you are rushing, you cannot stand with dignity.”
That reminded me of the time a car was my personal transportation, and it was a great blessing. Then I spent four winters in the Arava desert of Israel without a car. This was a slower pace that suited me just fine. So after a major accident I gave up cars and have walked for the last seven years.
Now I meet more people, take lots of photos of interesting things and scenery, enjoy the landscape, improve my health, and get where I need to go anyway, with peace of mind. The cats and I are in sync; I admire their running speed and their stretching and curl-up times. Their leisure attitudes have significance and life has rhythm for us!
P.S. More on cats next week.
