As a positive comment, as a village resident, I would like to thank our police department, fire department, and our town road employees for all that they do and the excellent job that they do.
Also, during the Stowe Arena construction, Salvas Construction’s large trucks were very diligent stopping at the Depot, Park and Pond street stop signs to keep our town people safe.
On the negative side of this, if I can change one person’s illegal driving habit of not stopping at these stop signs, I feel I may save someone from being harmed.
The parents of Stowe Elementary School students are the drivers who run these stop signs illegally, constantly, throughout the day. When the parents drop their children off at school, or at the Stowe Arena, or when they pick them up and disregard the nine stop signs, they are putting people in harm.
In my estimation, from my observation, more than half of the parents do not stop at all at these town signs.
Lastly, our local bicyclists continually do not stop at these stop signs, putting themselves in danger.
Our young children need to see safe driving skills and know that they are safe as pedestrians.
