I am excited and honored to have been selected as the new executive director of the Stowe Land Trust, to replace Heather Furman who departed earlier in 2013. The community and organization have been wonderful and welcoming since I began working in early December. As a local resident, avid recreationalist and farm and forest lover, I have been visiting and enjoying the work of Stowe Land Trust for years. Spending time in stunning places such as Bingham Falls, the Pinnacle overlook, and the numerous fun and accessible trails at Cady Hill Forest has brought such richness to my life, and I am grateful.
Today, I am even more grateful for the opportunity to work with Stowe Land Trust to steward these special places and, with time, to complete additional land protection projects. I believe passionately in land conservation — to sustain our vital, life-giving ecosystems, our working farms and forests, beautiful vistas and our connection to the landscape through trails.
There are several initiatives underway at Stowe Land Trust that I am excited to pick up and run with in 2014. We’ll be updating you about these in the near future. I look forward to reaching out to the community in the coming months, both to understand your priorities for conservation and to highlight ways we can work together.
It is readily apparent that the Stowe community overwhelmingly supports land conservation — you have helped the Stowe Land Trust complete an incredible scope and variety of projects. Thank you for your support, and please be in touch. I can be reached at caitrin@stowelandtrust.org or 253-7221.
