In case you didn’t catch the performance of Ken Ludwig’s farce, “Leading Ladies,” at Stowe High School this weekend, let me bring you up to date. There was a highly entertaining production of “Leading Ladies,” cast with an extremely talented group of high school kids, and directed by two very savvy theater women. Friday night’s show was a gem.
For the past few years, Stowe High School has put on some pretty great stuff, thanks in no small way to Jane Harissis, who’s been infecting local kids with the theater bug starting in middle school. Hats off to her, and to Tami Brown, for driving the play at express speed, the only way to do a farce.
And bravo to the kids in the show, who got all their laughs with very little gratuitous mugging. They were all good, but special notice must be paid to Sam Puddicombe and Owen Levy, whose timing, focus, physicality and sheer aplomb knocked our socks off.
Stay tuned for the one-acts this coming spring!
