I am writing in celebration of the passing of VT Bill H.112, the GMO labeling bill!
I am celebrating on behalf of all those in Vermont who are concerned about what may or may not be in GMO foods. I live with a food allergy, and rely on food labels to ensure that what I am eating is safe for me. Foods that don’t outline their contents I avoid because I just can’t take the chance.
I feel the same about GMOs. We don’t know enough about GMOs to really know if they are safe or not, so for me, just like my food allergies, since I’m not sure if they are safe, I’d rather have the choice to avoid eating them.
Labeling is the only way to allow for consumer choice. So thank you, Vermont senators, especially Lamoille County’s own Rich Westman, for listening to me and thousands of others, and voting for H.112.
