The recent arrest of a Johnson man has police warning the public about the dangers of drugs that may contain unknown narcotic compounds.
Vermont State Police arrested 25-year-old Cory Youlden Jan. 13 on three felony counts of sale of narcotics. One count alleges Youlden sold prescription narcotics, and two counts allege he sold “Molly,” a drug generally sold as MDMA, or “ecstasy,” police said.
The arrest followed an investigation into the distribution of narcotics in the Lamoille County area, conducted by state police, Morristown police, Stowe police and the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department.
State police are urging people to be aware of the dangers of drugs like Molly. More often than not, they said, Molly contains narcotic compounds known as “bath salts” rather than MDMA. During their investigation, “it became readily apparent that area dealers and consumers of Molly have no fact-based knowledge of what Molly actually contains,” police said in a press release.
Youlden was released on a citation to appear in Lamoille County Superior Court on Feb. 12.
