A 71-year-old Morristown man has been charged with multiple accounts of aggravated sexual assault and lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.
Alton “Sonny” McFarlane was arrested last week by the Morristown Police Department. The charges stem from an investigation in September, in which police charged McFarlane with lewd conduct with a 10-year-old girl.
After hearing about the charge against McFarlane, two more women approached police; they alleged years of sexual abuse committed by McFarlane, dating back to the late 1970s.
McFarlane was arraigned Oct. 8 in Lamoille Superior Court on the new charges, and was ordered held without bail.
The investigation is continuing, Morristown police said, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Cpl. Ryan Bjerke at 888-4211.
