Students from Elmore and Wolcott, among others, can now attend grades six through 12 at Pacem School in Montpelier under Vermont’s school choice law.
The school has received “approved status” from the Vermont Department of Education, so that students from select towns can receive full tuition from public funds to attend. Their families face no tuition costs.
The state approval came after a written application, a site visit, and expert review of the school’s organization, curriculum, facilities, staff qualifications, student health and safety, and financial qualifications.
Pacem, founded in 2006, offers a full-time program for grades six through 12, plus coursework and extracurricular support for homeschoolers and part-time students ages 10-18. It has a special focus on peace, arts, environmental consciousness and personal mastery. Information: pacemschool.org.
