Bonnie Waninger, executive director of the Lamoille County Planning Commission for almost seven years, is leaving to play a similar role for the Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission.
Waninger will replace Sue Sinclair, who’s retiring after 28 years on the job.
Waninger, a resident of Cambridge, has lived in Vermont since 1996. The next year, she became special projects planner for the Northwest Regional Planning Commission in St. Albans, and 2003 became its assistant director.
She was named executive director of the Lamoille County commission in 2008.
The Central Vermont group had 26 applicants for the job; only seven were from Vermont.
The Central Vermont commission covers 23 towns; the Lamoille commission covers 15.
Waninger earned a bachelor’s degree in 1989 from Ball State University in Indiana.
