As Stowe increased its population by more than 20 percent over the past decade, the people who plan its future have been busier than ever trying to make sure development and growth don’t go off the rails.

Vail Resorts, which operates Stowe Mountain Resort and 36 other North American ski and ride destinations, is increasing its minimum wage for next ski season to $20 per hour, an increase of more than 50 percent at some New England resorts.

With the sale of Mark Frier and Chad Fry’s Tres Amigos and the Rusty Nail Stage to the Third Place restaurant group, the former Mexican joint will be replaced by an American Flatbread and possibly a Zero Gravity brewery, but it likely spells the end of Stowe’s historic music venue.

Stowe Cider may soon offer a light food menu to go along with its wide array of ciders if the town’s development review board doesn’t take issue with a plan that also includes outdoor dining and live music.
