U.S. Air National Guard Airman First Class Devon J. Sanborn graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Sanborn is the son of Vicky L. and Eugene R. Sanborn of Hyde Park, brother of Aliza R. Sanborn of Jeffersonville and grandson of Dianne and Donald J. Richardson of Waterbury Center.
Sanborn is a 2009 graduate of Lamoille Union High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2013 from the University of Vermont.
Four local students received degrees at Castleton State College’s 228th commencement, held May 9:
Lucas Hall of Stowe, bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Shelby Cushing of Cambridge, bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Dameon Young of Cambridge, bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Megan Goodell of Johnson, received a master’s degree in accounting.
Haley Drury of Essex Junction was named to the spring dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smiths, N.Y. She also earned the title of Adirondack Scholar. Drury is majoring in natural resource sustainability. Drury is the daughter of Kim (Spaulding) and Ben Drury and granddaughter of Hazel and Kermit Spaulding.
These students have been named to the spring dean’s list at their respective schools:
Mary Buonanno of Wolcott, a finance major and a freshman at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.
Taylor Peters of Cambridge, attending Castleton State College.
Stacy Christine Tomlinson, a senior majoring in exercise science at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. Her parents are Bruce and Christine Tomlinson of Morrisville.
Peter Walsh of Morrisville, attending the State University of New York in New Paltz, N.Y.
Sean Pease of Morrisville, son of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Pease, received the “Most Valuable Player in strength and conditioning” award during the spring trimester at the Hyde School in Woodstock, Conn. Pease is taking a postgraduate year at the school.
