Dexter C. Thurston

Dexter C. Thurston

Dexter Crosby Thurston, 19, of Wolcott died unexpectedly Friday, July 20, 2018, in Elmore.

Born Oct. 13, 1998, to Vicky and Wayne Thurston in Waterbury Center, Dexter was a 2017 graduate of Stowe High School, and studied health sciences at Johnson State College.

Dexter loved music, reading, photography, soccer, hiking, dirt biking, mountain biking, longboarding and snowboarding. His dreams from an early age included becoming a lawyer, a biological engineer, a chiropractor, park ranger and ski patroller. He dreamed of traveling the country seeking adventure and freedom, mayhem and memories.

Everyone who knew Dexter laughed with him, and everyone Dexter knew was touched by his compassion and caring. His ready smile and friendly sarcasm will be so dearly missed. His creative and adventurous spirit and love of family will always be remembered.

He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Vicky (Atwood) Thurston; brother Owen Thurston; grandmother Lois Atwood of Morrisville, Vt.; grandparents Hollis and Iva Thurston of Morrisville, N.Y.; and a multitude of loving extended family and friends. Grandfather Richard Atwood of Duxbury died earlier.

Services will be held Friday, July 27, at noon at the Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center. A gathering at the Thurston family home on West Hill Road in Wolcott will follow at 5 p.m. All wishing to celebrate Dexter’s life and honor his memory are welcome.
