The Friends of the Stowe Free Library will hold their annual meeting on Thursday, May 8, at 4 p.m. in the library’s community meeting room.
The guest speaker is Patricia Haslam, author of “Ski Pioneers of Stowe.” There will be copies of her book available for purchase and signing.
Through documents donated to the Stowe Historical Society, Stowe Reporter articles written by Charlie Lord, the memoirs of the late Sepp Ruschp and 36 mini-biographies of the people who were there, Haslam chronicles the compelling story of the beginnings of the ski industry on Mount Mansfield and the dedication of those who made it happen.
Haslam, a certified genealogist and author of books previously published by the Stowe Historical Society, has a passion for research and investigation. The publishing of this book represents a true labor of love and pure volunteer effort, with all proceeds going to the benefit of the Stowe Historical Society.
All are welcome, and refreshments will be served.
