The Stowe Co-op Nursery School is hosting its third annual Family Bike Rally, “The Kids are All Bike,” on Saturday, May 17, from noon to 4 p.m. at Piecasso Pizzeria & Lounge. Premium raffle drawings take place at 3 p.m. This fun family event will encourage safe bike riding for children of all ages in the Stowe community and beyond, as well as raise funds to meet Stowe Co-Op Nursery School’s annual fundraising goals. All proceeds from the event will benefit the school.
A bike swap will be part of the event. Bikes can be donated and sold to benefit the school’s new summer camp program. All children’s bikes will be accepted at the school from Monday, May 13, to Friday, May 16, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., or brought to Piecasso between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday, May 17.
The event starts with a “Kidical Mass” family ride at 11:30 a.m., starting at the Stowe Recreation Path behind Stowe Community Church (trailers, bike seats, stride bikes and more are welcome).
The $3 admission fee includes a bike rodeo designed and run by Wheels Around Waterbury (all wheels are welcome, including scooters and tricycles), a used children’s bike sale; a bicycle safety check by Skiershop; child ID and bike registration by Stowe Police; helmet checks by Stowe Rescue; a bouncy house; crafts provided by Helen Day Art Center; face painting with Babies to Boomers; and live music from Lesley Grant. Refreshments will be available for purchase at Piecasso. Sales of ice cream provided by the Depot Street Malt Shop will benefit the school. There will be a beer garden for participants 21 and over.
