Lessons, guided rides, workshops, ways to improve

Rugged Adventures camp

Group rides and lessons for all ages are available throughout the Stowe area.

Here’s a sampling of places where people can buy, rent and fix mountain bikes, and get good advice on how to have a great, safe adventure.

Stowe Mountain Bike Club

Information: stowemountainbike.com, facebook.com/StoweMtbClub, 802-233-2129. All-volunteer club builds, maintains and does the work to make great singletrack available to everyone. The club spent more than $70,000 on trails last year. Those dollars come from Stowe town government, grants and memberships, and coreporate sponsors.

A season’s pass to ride what the club believes is the finest single-track in Vermont costs as little as $35.

Group rides

SMBC: Every Tuesday, 6 p.m. Check SMBC Facebook page for weekly info. Any and all, beginner to intermediate, welcome. Casual and social; no ego. Bite and brews afterward. Also, a choice of faster-paced, longer rides.

Mansfield Cycles: Every Thursday, 6 p.m., ladies ride. Check Mansfield Cycles Facebook page for weekly info. Social afterwards.

iRide: Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30. Mondays, fast-paced. Wednesdays, social.

Bike club events

B3 – Bikes, Bevs & Beats. Townwide festival with group rides, critical mass ride, music/bands, brew and bev tastings and specials, village kickoff party, barbecues, kids’ activities, restaurant specials and more! June 26, 27, 28.

Fourth of July SMBC parade. Join us as we bike down the Mountain Road and into the village.

Trapp Family Lodge

• Progression of trails designed from beginner through expert levels.

• Mountain biking skills lessons, guided trips on and off-property, rental bike fleet (from children’s cruisers to full suspension bikes).

• Trails open through Nov. 1.

• Stowe Mountain Bike Club members get a discounted $50 season pass at the Trapp Family Outdoor Center.

• Day passes available.

• Group lessons, private coaching, and guide services available.

Mansfield Cycles at Nordic Barn

Rugged Adventures Camp

Onion River Sports

• Friday night fix — Bike clinics on designated Fridays, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Covers entry-level care and keeping of bikes; 10 percent off bike parts and accessories purchased at clinic.

• Tuesdays, RoadSpokes with Linda Freeman. Road ride. Beginner to intermediate. Meet at Montpelier High School at 5:15 p.m.

• Wednesdays, informal mountain bike rides for intermediate/advanced riders. Meet at Onion River Sports, 6 p.m. Various routes.

• Thursdays, Montpelier Area Mountain Bike Association group rides. bikemamba.org.

Let’s Get Outdoors

• Let’s GO Mountain Biking: Weekly beginner rides, 8 and up, 9-11 a.m., Tuesdays, June 30-Aug. 18; senior advanced group, ages 11-13, noon-4 p.m., Tuesdays, June 30-Aug. 18; junior advanced group, ages 8-10, Wednesdays, July 1-Aug. 19; race team, ages 8-16, 5-8 p.m., Wednesdays July 1-Aug. 19.
