Jan-3-S-DuBrul-Athlete-of-the-Month-SC

The Vermont Sports Media Association (VSMA) has selected Champlain Valley Union (CVU) High School senior Paige DuBrul, a soccer player, as its November Female Athlete of the Month.

DuBrul, a senior, was first nominated by a VSMA member based on her accomplishments in November.

A two-way midfielder, DuBrul helped her Redhawk soccer team earn the 2014 Division 1 state championship and was named the Burlington Free Press Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year in November. In her four years playing for CVU, the Redhawks won four state titles.

“Paige was the pivot of our team,” said CVU coach Stan Williams. “She served as a defensive rock in front of our back four and then had the technical and tactical ability to start our attack. She was instrumental in our success.”

Also nominated for the female November honor was Proctor High School junior soccer player Abby McKearin.

BFA-Fairfax senior Matt Larose was named the November Male Athlete of the Month. He outpolled two other nominees for the honor, Rice Memorial senior football player Chris Jansen and Stowe senior soccer player Blake Duffy.
