Girls’ Basketball
Champlain Valley 61, Burlington 49: The Champlain Valley Union High School girls’ basketball team continued their unbeaten ways, beating Burlington 61-49 on Monday evening, Feb. 22.
Catherine Gilwee had 20 points and seven assists for the Redhawks (4-0) and Shelby Companion added 10 points and three steals.
CVU outscored the Seahorses 22-10 in the second quarter to pull away for the win.
The Redhawks also earned a win on Thursday, beating BFA-St. Albans 44-27.
Gilwee had 13 points for CVU and Addi Hunter chipped in with 10 points.
Boys Hockey
Champlain Valley 4, Stowe 2: Four different goal-scorers found the back of the net for the Champlain Valley boys hockey team in a win on Saturday over Stowe.
Angelos Carroll, Devon Fay, Ryan Canty and Alex Zuchowski each had a goal for the Redhawks.
Girls’ Hockey
Champlain Valley/Mount Mansfield 2, Middelbury 1: The Champlain Valley-Mount Mansfield co-op team scored in the third period to earn a win over Middlebury on Saturday.
Hannah Schmid and Georgia Bruneau each had a goal and an assist for the CougarHawks, while Riley Erdman added an assist.
Grace Ferguson stopped 18 shots to earn the win.
Boys Basketball
Champlain Valley 40, Spaulding 37: The Champlain Valley defense held Spaulding to three points in the third quarter to pull away for a win on Saturday.
Devin Rogers led the Redhawks with nine points and Alex Provost chipped in with eight points.
The win moves CVU to a 2-1 record this season.
