Shelburne senior athlete Flo Meiler started 2014 off on the right foot. She grabbed four gold medals in the long jump, high jump, pole vault, and two silver medals for shot put and weight throw at the 45th annual Dartmouth Relays in Dartmouth, N.H. this January. At the USA Track & Field South East Region and North Carolina Masters Indoor Championships in Winston Salem, N.C. in March, Meiler added eight gold medals to her collection: pole vault, 60m dash, 60m hurdles, shot put, long jump, triple jump, high jump, and weight throw. Meiler was also the first in her age group to cross the finish line with a time of 39:59 and the oldest participant at the Hilton Head Island Shamrock 5K run in March. Stay tuned; 2014 has only just begun.
