The Champlain Valley boys’ basketball team suffered a season-ending loss to Rice in the Division I semifinals on Wednesday, March 24.

The Green Knights, who went on to win the D-I state title later in the week, defeated the Redhawks 72-38.

Deng Dau had nine points to pace the CVU offense, while Devin Rogers added seven points.

No. 5 CVU trailed 40-19 at halftime before falling behind further in the third and fourth quarters.

Sharif Sharif led all scorers with 32 points for Rice, who is the top speed in the tournament.

CVU finished the season with a 8-4 record.
