First-year student-athlete Pierce Farrington of Shelburne landed his second all-conference finish while breaking his fifth school record of the weekend, and the Saint Michael’s College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams finished competition on Sunday during the four-day Northeast-10 Conference Championship at Southern Connecticut State University’s Hutchison Natatorium.
The Purple Knight women finished seventh among nine schools with 172 points, claiming their best placement in three years. On the men’s side, Saint Michael’s was sixth out of seven institutions with 239 points.
Farrington placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.40, lowering his own two-week-old school standard by 1.38 seconds. The first and only male all-league swimmer in school history, Farrington nabbed an NE-10 All-Conference finish, which necessitates being among the top two in an event, for the second straight day, having also turned the feat on Saturday in the 100-yard butterfly. During the weekend, Farrington broke his own school records in the 50 and 100 free, the 100 fly, and the 50- and 100-yard backstrokes.
The Purple Knights complete their winter season at next weekend’s three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship at the University of Rhode Island.
