Jan-3-S-XC-Coach-of-the-Year-SC

Champlain Valley’s Scott Bliss and South Burlington’s Geoff Bennett were named Vermont high school cross country coaches of the year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in its inaugural year.

One boys coach and one girls coach from each state were selected for their successes during the 2014 season. Among the factors taken into consideration by the selection committee were team score and placement at the state championships, margin of victory, performance against rankings if available, individual championships, and how their teams’ performances stacked up to previous years.

Bliss’s CVU girls captured their sixth straight Division I crown and 11th in 12 seasons in the fall. Bennett’s Rebel boys completed a three-peat.

State coaches of the year will be considered for the first National High School Cross Country Coach of the Year.
