September is National Preparedness Month and the perfect time to welcome and thank PC Construction for stepping forward to become the first partner to engage with the Vermont & the New Hampshire Upper Valley American Red Cross as a Ready 365 member.

“Through a generous gift of $10,000, PC Construction has both demonstrated a commitment to preparedness and highlighted the invaluable role that partners play in the work accomplished by the Red Cross,” said Larry Crist, Regional Executive for the Vermont & the New Hampshire Upper Valley American Red Cross.

Disasters, and being prepared to address the human needs created by their devastation, don’t take holidays.  Ensuring that the Red Cross stands ready to offer help and hope to members of our communities is a 365 day a year effort. Ready 365 is an annual giving program established by the Red Cross to recruit corporate partners to help ensure that the organization is ready before disasters strike.

“Our local Red Cross responded more than 200 times this past year and we know that simply doesn’t happen if they can’t maintain readiness throughout the year,” said Shelburne resident Kevin McCarthy, president and CEO at PC Construction.  “Our donation to the Red Cross is our part to ensure that help for our neighbors is there when it is needed,” McCarthy added.

The funds provided by Ready 365 partners provide a reliable funding base for community disaster preparedness initiatives and relief services that enables the Red Cross to respond immediately, meeting the needs of individuals and families affected by disasters in our region.  Ready 365 support also allows the Red Cross to collect about 46,000 pints of blood in Vermont each year, supports the organization’s ability to assist over 150 members of the armed services and their family annually, and helps us empower people through CPR and First Aid training.

The idea of preparedness is one close to PC Construction’s heart. In their line of work, safety is a critical aspect of the business and they know that preparedness is the first step in ensuring the health and well-being of their employee-owners, both on and off the job. This month the company is encouraging staff to download free Red Cross mobile apps.
