Chefs at Bijou Fine Chocolate and Tea spend their days crafting and selling delicious confections, and will now add workshops to their responsibilities in an effort to help customers understand and appreciate the many subtleties involved in tasting fine food.
Education is a passion at Bijou. Out of a growing demand from the local food scene, they are launching a new series of workshops called Tasting in Technicolor.
While Bijou focuses in-store on chocolate, pastries and teas, the Tasting in Technicolor series will venture across the food spectrum, with speakers representing all areas of the culinary world.
The first Tasting in Technicolor workshop will be titled Discovering Tea, a hands-on, introductory-level tasting workshop that will introduce attendees to the many levels of the tea-tasting experience.
The workshop is co-sponsored by Coffee Analysts of Burlington, who will be lending the talents of their professional Tea Specialist Gwen Russell, who will share a wide selection of world teas and teach how to enhance tasting enjoyment and appreciation of this classic beverage.
Founded in 1994, Coffee Analysts is an independent laboratory specializing in physical, sensory and chemical analysis of coffee and tea. They don’t sell coffee and tea; they help manage quality.
Participants will walk away with a newfound ability to taste more in tea than ever before, a foundational knowledge of the many different types of teas, and an ability to discern subtle differences between cups.
The first Tasting in Technicolor workshop will be at 7pm on Thursday, Nov. 12, hosted by Bijou Fine Chocolate at their shop in Shelburne Green at 6221 Shelburne Rd across from Shelburne Vineyard and behind Fiddlehead Brewery.
The workshop is designed for anyone interested in enhancing their enjoyment and appreciation of fine food. No experience is required and the series is open to the general public.
Tickets are $33 and space is limited. To order call Bijou at (802) 540-5343 or order tickets through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/discovering-tea-tasting-in-technicolor-series-tickets-19348948225?aff=ehomecard
