The Vermont Law Enforcement Challenge committee selected the Town of Shelburne’s Police Department as the first place finisher in the 2014 Vermont Law Enforcement Challenge at a banquet at DoubleTree by Hilton on Aug. 6. Established 14 years ago, the challenge encourages a friendly competition between law enforcement and its participation in highway safety initiatives such as the “Click it or Ticket,” and “You Drink & Drive You Lose” programs. In addition, safety education events at schools, community events, and retail outlets weigh heavily in the judging.
Notified in July of the selection Sgt. Fortin noted, “We were selected because we have a great program here. It is an honor to be acknowledged for excelling in each area of the challenge, not only in Shelburne, but in our division.”
Town Manager Joe Colangelo concurred, “It was a privilege to join the Shelburne Police Department at the luncheon banquet when they accepted this well-deserved award.”
