Thirty eight people attended Beautification Day, an annual end-of-summer tradition at Mater Christi School on Aug. 16. Organized by Ting Shlansky and Angela DeSanctis, the group took on a variety of jobs including weeding, painting classrooms and pavement lines, washing windows, trimming hedges, and removing drywall.
Those in attendance made the day even more meaningful by participating in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, with John Carney getting doused with ice water. Several members of the Mater Christi School community have relatives and /or friends suffering from ALS and are impressed at how wide spread this challenge has become and are hoping that with the extra funding, a cure for this disease will be found soon.
The following volunteers prepared the school and grounds for the students on the first day of school Tuesday, Aug. 26: Sarah Lavoie; Patrick, William, Mike and Sherry Sawyer; Deb Cardinal; Noel and Craig Boucher; Jack, Christy and JB Bahrenburg; Bill Embick; Karen and Bret Shabazz; Rob LeBlanc; Elisa Ferguson; Tim Collins; and Anna Camus.
