The Veterans Memorial dinner raffle, won by the town’s own Karen and Rich Grimm, took place at Rustic Roots on Saturday, July 5 in Shelburne. The Grimm’s and six invited guests were treated to an intimate dinner with local ingredients provided by the Shelburne Supermarket while the dinner venue, food preparation, and service was lovingly provided by Rustic Roots owner Mike Orfan and his partner, Ashley Campbell.

“Our dinner was absolutely marvelous,” commented Karen. “All the tables were removed with the exception of a large one set beautifully in the middle of the room which made everyone feel very special. Before each course Ashley, our attentive hostess, would tell us about the food and wine and was incredibly gracious. It is hard to pick a favorite from the five course meal, but if pressed, the scallops over risotto drizzled with truffle oil and the pot au crème were outstanding.”

Rich concurred, “It could not have been a better meal. Michael is so talented and everything tasted wonderful. We were there nearly three hours. It’s obvious everyone enjoyed it.”

Members of the Veteran’s Memorial Committee sold raffle tickets for $25 each during April and May and raised $4,500 for the project. For more information or to donate to this worthy cause please call Mike Lynch at 985-2461.
