The Ronald McDonald House of Burlington would like everyone to enjoy the summer’s grand finale and ride the rails to the Rutland State Fair. Thanks to the support of Vermont Rail Systems, attendees of the Rutland State Fair, as well as train enthusiasts from Chittenden and Addison Counties, will be able to ride Ronald McDonald’s Midway Express from Burlington’s Union Station at 9am on Sept. 6.
The Midway Express will make stops in Charlotte (9:30am) and Middlebury (10:45am).
The train reaches its destination at the gates of the fairground around 12:30pm.
The return trip includes boarding and departure from the Midway at 5:30pm, arriving Middlebury at 7:30pm, Charlotte at 8:45pm, and Burlington by 9:30pm.
Tickets are just $40 per person for all ages and include admittance to the fair and round trip travel. No need to worry about parking or traffic if you ride the rails with Ronald.
Anthony Neri, Ronald McDonald House Charities Board member and key event planner, recently expressed his enthusiasm regarding the ride, saying, “following the success of the first Jingle Bell Express in late 2013, we thought a relaxing train ride to and from Rutland would make an enjoyable and inexpensive way for people to enjoy the State Fair. There are so many people who love trains just like I do, and if we can continue to contribute much needed funds to my favorite local charity, well it’s a win-win for all.”
Money raised from Ronald’s Midway Express will help to support the many families with hospitalized children served at the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room as well as the children seen by the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
