Tech Tutoring: Our tech tutoring week continues today and Friday, so if you would like some assistance in using a new electronic device to download e-books or audiobooks or for other tasks, call (802) 985-5124 to set up your one-on-one appointment with a library staff member.
Tonight! The Trustees of the Pierson Library will be meeting at 6:30pm. All meetings are open to the public so if you are interested in finding out what’s new at the library, please attend.
Fiber Arts Friday: Our adult patrons who enjoy sewing, needlework, embroidery, quilting, macramé, or any other fiber art are invited to come to the library on Friday, May 22 at 3pm for a cup of tea. Share pointers or pick up tips from your peers.
Memorial Day Library closure: The library will be closed on Monday, May 25 for the Memorial Day holiday. Be sure to stock up in advance on any books, audiobooks or DVDs that you may want to enjoy over the long weekend.
Chess Club: Patrons of all ages are invited to join the Chess Club which meets on the last Tuesday of the month. Join them on May 26 at 6pm. Chess sets are provided but bring your own if you wish. Players of all levels of experience are welcome.
Musical Story Time: Bring your babies and toddlers to the library any or all Thursday mornings at 10:30am for an interactive musical story time with Inger Dybfest. Music everyone will enjoy and stories guaranteed to enthrall the youngsters.
What our Book Clubs are reading in June: The Tuesday night Book Club will be reading “All the Light You Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr. Cited as one of the 10 best books of 2014 by The New York Times Book Review, this beautifully written novel traces the lives of a young blind Parisian girl and an orphaned German boy during World War II whose paths cross in Saint Malo. They will be discussing the book on Tuesday, June 16 at 6:30pm. If you’ve read the book already and would like to join in the discussion, we are happy to welcome you. If you’d like to read the book, please ask for a copy at the front desk. We’d be pleased to have you join the discussion this one time or on a regular basis.
The Wednesday morning Book Club will be reading “Behind the Beautiful Forevers” by Katherine Boo. Boo, a journalist, chronicles the lives of several residents who live in the slums of Mumbai. They will discuss the book on Wednesday, June 17 at 10am. If you are interested, please ask for a copy at the front desk.
