Fifteen months after the regional planning commission rejected Morristown’s town plan, a new generation of officials wants to get the plan back on track to be able to leverage the state and federal dollars it has been denied for the past five and a half years.

Two and a half months after Morristown’s town administrator resigned, the town has received little interest in the job, and the town police chief has already remained the interim administrator longer than expected.

Following a summer that saw more than half a dozen businesses in town hit by thieves, the Morristown Police Department last week held a forum that attracted nearly 75 people whose palpable frustration filled the packed room.

Morristown has doubled down on its refusal to let people move into a 24-unit affordable housing complex in the middle of town, saying the owner hasn’t yet met the requirements of its zoning permit.

Morristowners next month will be asked once again to vote on a 2024 fiscal year operating budget, this time nearly two months after the fiscal year already began.

In addition to voting for a third time this year on a town operating budget, Morristown residents will determine who gets to work on next year’s budget.
