A month ago, after its well was overrun by the Lamoille River, Morrisville Water & Light was forced by the state to tell customers not to drink the water, even though utility workers were confident the water was safe.
On Wednesday, July 19, Morrisville Water & Light lifted its boil notice for village drinking water customers, ending more than eight days of restrictions, during which half the time customers were ordered to not drink the water at all, boiled or not.
Towns along Lamoille County’s namesake river were among the Vermont communities worst hit Tuesday by two straight days of rain in a deluge that many say was worse than Tropical Storm Irene, which rocked the state 12 years ago.
