Girls Basketball

The South Burlington girls team continued its unprecedented winning streak this past week. After last Monday’s game against Milton was canceled due to weather, the Rebels returned home to host Mount Abraham and dispatched the Eagles by a score of 32-22. South Burlington has been explosive in the second half of its season, winning nine out of its last ten games after starting the season 1-5. The Rebels have an 11-6 overall record. They will play their final two games of the regular season at home, hosting Vergennes on 2/10, after press deadline, and Colchester on 2/13.

Boys Basketball

The boy’s team absorbed another tough loss this past week, falling to St. Johnsbury at home by a score of 58-40. The loss represents the Rebels twelfth straight, as well as their fourth straight within the Metro League. With time running out for the team in the regular season, South Burlington travels to CVU on 2/12, before hitting the road to face Colchester on 2/17. South Burlington hosts its final game of the regular season when they face off against North Country on 2/20. South Burlington holds a 2-13 record on the season.

Girls Hockey

South Burlington battled Spaulding into overtime last Wednesday, 2/4 but came up short against the Crimson Tide in a 4-3 loss. The Rebels fall to 5-11 on the season with the loss, and have three regular season games remaining on the year. The team travels to Essex on 2/12 and Northfield on 2/14, before returning home to host Burr & Burton at Cairns Arena on 2/18.

Boys Hockey

South Burlington came up short in a defensive battle with an always-challenging Essex program, falling to the Hornets in a 1-0 loss last Wednesday. The loss is just the team’s fourth of their season, bringing their Metro League record to 8-4-1 and an impressive 11-4-2 record overall. The Rebels face their final three contests of the season at Cairns Arena, hosting CVU on 2/11, Spaulding on 2/14, and St. Albans on 2/18.

Gymnastics

The Rebels faced some of their stiffest competition of the season last Wednesday when the team traveled to CVU to meet the Redhawks. Ultimately, South Burlington’s veteran squad prevailed, continuing to execute their performance with precision and technique to outscore CVU 134.55-128.95. The team is 7-1 on the season, and host U32 in their final regular season meet on 2/14. South Burlington will advance to the State Championship meet held on 2/21 at Essex High School. The hosting Hornets are the only gymnastics program to defeat the Rebels this season.
