Marguerite Adelman, coordinator of the Vermont PFAS Coalition, offers a free class on PFAS on Monday, Oct. 23, 6-8 p.m., at Champlain Valley Union High School, 369 CVU Road, Hinesburg.
Per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a class of 14,000 man-made chemicals discovered during the Manhattan Project, are persistent, non-biodegradable, bio-accumulative and toxic.
The class will provide information about health problems associated with PFAS, the many products that contain them, and how to research contamination in Vermont and your own community. Finally, the class will provide tips on how to protect yourself and your family from PFAS. We all need education on this complex issue and how to find out if PFAS is in our water, blood, soil, air, and products that we purchase.
Adelman, a Winooski resident, is a retired non-profit administrator in education, nonprofits and government.
The class is being offered through Access CVU. Register for free class at bit.ly/3PHUMrI.
