I’ve known Eben Patch his entire life. Being a couple of driveways down the road means you tend to see a good amount of each other, both in the years when he was growing up and now as he starts his own career and life in town.

I’ve known Eben Patch his entire life. Being a couple of driveways down the road means you tend to see a good amount of each other, both in the years when he was growing up and now as he starts his own career and life in town.
Whether it was during those years as a kid, or now, Patch has always cared about family and his neighbors. He would never hesitate to lend a hand when we needed it at the barn stacking hay bales or helping around our horse farm. That core sense of community has only expanded in the present day.
He has always felt that helping neighbors when they need it is just the right thing to do: one hand washes the other. When his platform speaks of helping people in the community get a foot up, he leads by example and not paper-thin campaign promises.
We all benefit from attracting talent into this town. As an aging state, every person who moves into Johnson or works in this town is to be celebrated. We need to be doing as much as we can to bring in fresh ideas and new businesses and residents.
Patch’s experience with roads and utilities, and his deep understanding of how integral they are to a town’s success make him a top pick for the Johnson Selectboard. We need to attract talent here, not warding it off with outdated infrastructure.
Patch and I may not agree on everything politically. But I support him because of his character and his strong view that we need to mend rifts and compromise. Our new national leader said that what our politics need now more than ever is “just plain, simple decency. The renewal of a politics that’s about solving problems, looking out for one another, not stoking the flames of hate and chaos.”
And, while we might question whether that is possible in the country at large, I do think it something we can accomplish here in Johnson. Eben Patch will help do his part in our national effort to mend wounds and restore decency. I hope you will join me in supporting him.
