I’m an outsider who visits regularly and finds the bookstores and libraries of Vermont to be as precious and enriching as its astounding natural environment. This library, in particular, is a very special place. It has provided joy and shelter for my children and me on many a rainy day at Elmore state campground.
During a slew of grateful hours spent reading at the library, we’ve observed a full and robust library program, with happy children and teens, well-served adults, as well as Vermonters who come for the Wi-Fi, outlets and bathrooms but stay for the sense of community. Bringing people together to build love of literature, exposure to new ideas and a deeper connection to one another is one of most important things that a town selectboard can do.
Please do what you can to ensure that this treasure of north central Vermont continues on, intact and thriving.

I am saddened to hear of the Morristown Library funding controversy and wish to express my concern via this note.
I am a Lake Elmore summer resident having been so since 1962. The area is doing itself a huge disservice if this lovely facility is not able to continue operation. While my family’s use of the facility is not as great as many of the folks in this area, my best friend in Elmore, also a Summer resident, and his family were very frequent visitors. Upon his wife’s passing, the reading room as it currently sits was established and named in her honor. The honor bestowed upon her will be greatly diminished if the library closes, and the Morristown locale will suffer a cultural and much used service loss. This saddens me more than I can express in this simple note.
Please do what you can to continue funding this lovely facility that has for so long served as a distinguished area landmark.
Sincerely
George Pitman
