To the Editor:
We, the undersigned leaders of our respective Jewish communities in Vermont, are appalled to see that the Party for Socialism and Liberation would host an event in City Hall Park this Saturday with a call to incite violence against the people of Israel for defending themselves from Hamas.
It is unconscionable for this group and other event co-sponsors to support the terrorist organization Hamas and its compatriots of hatred. In no world is a “counter-offensive by Palestinian resistance forces” comparable to people who use terror and atrocities to advance their political goals.
“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is a statement directly from the Hamas charter and is a call to eradicate any Jewish person living in the land of Israel. This kind of public hatred is unacceptable in our beloved community of Vermont and we stand in firm opposition to its message.
We call upon Party for Socialism and Liberation and all event co-sponsors to immediately condemn terrorism and publicly condemn the atrocities committed by Hamas in the name of innocent Palestinian people against our Israeli families, friends and allies.
We are praying for peace.
