My wife and I had just talked to him about two weeks prior and as we had done since we were younger, we joked, talked and parted ways, never believing it would be the last time we saw him.
He and I first met in second grade and quickly became friends, developing a bond that lasted for many years. Mickey was my best friend, brother and the best man at my wedding. I have shared many stories with my wife about Mickey, from our youth to adulthood, laughing and sometimes shedding tears, but thankful for every memory with him. To everyone who knew Mickey, he is still with us, smiling that smile and one day we’ll see him again.
