Peoples Academy students gathered Tuesday in scattered groups for the first day of in-person classes in nearly half a year, after schools were shut down in mid-March due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

Principal Phil Grant and some students took to microphones in the bandshell, offering uplifting words peppered with gentle reminders to always wear a mask and try to maintain some physical distance.

Then, students walked through the front doors of the school in small groups, the start of a new year.
