This past Sunday, Pastor Mike Thorpe referenced the scriptures from Exodus 32:1-14 in which the Israelites become frustrated waiting for Moses to return and urge Aaron to fashion another God for them, resulting in a golden calf. Moses then pleads to God for mercy on the people when God becomes angry at them for turning away so quickly.
He also addressed the Gospel from Matthew 22:1-14 in which the king invites a number of people to a wedding, and they don’t attend, so he sends his servants out into the street to invite in all the folks who would normally not be considered appropriate for such a wedding. The pastor pointed out how easy it is for us to become complacent and lost sight of the God who has created us human beings for a life of love and peace if only we will follow God’s ways.
