Have you ever had a powerful experience, and tried to hold on to it? That’s what philosopher and theologian Blaise Pascal did with a particularly powerful experience of God. He wrote himself a note, and sewed it inside one of his pockets, so he could keep it close to him.
Unfortunately, our powerful experiences of the presence of the holy, or deep connection with the earth or other people, can sometimes fade away. How do we remind ourselves that we are all connected and beloved, that we are part of something bigger than ourselves?
As people of faith, we learn that the experience of the divine is for everyone — no special degree or vocation required. Next time you are keenly aware of this connection, what if you wrote a note or journal entry or left yourself a picture or reminder as a touchstone?
At United Community, we experience God and connection together as we listen, serve and grow. If you’re seeking a place of connection, perhaps this is the community for you. Find us at unitedchurchmorrisville.org, at the free breakfast Monday-Friday, or Sundays at 10 a.m. in person and on Facebook Live.
