This week Father Jon Schnobrich preached on John’s account of Jesus’ prayer in the garden. In this moment of John’s gospel, we find a beautiful example of prayer from our Lord.
Imagine you are asked, “How do you pray? What is prayer?” The catechism says prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God. It is the intention to raise our intellect to the Lord; we, in our mind, bring up our thoughts, memories, reason and imagination to the Lord.
To lift our hearts to the Lord, we acknowledge what desires we have and what we will to have. When you pray, reflect on if you are humbly approaching God by which Christ said you will be exalted. It is important for us all to pray as those who came before us did in preparation of Pentecost.
