Father Jon Schnobrich preached this Sunday on the Trinity. He exclaimed that all we do is for the purpose of uniting us with the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are called in mystery to be one with God, who Saint John says is love. Love has three ingredients: A lover, a beloved, and a shared love. The lover and beloved give of themselves to one another and share this love with us. God is an eternal exchange of love in the unity of the three, for which we are destined to be with God the Father, who is the lover; God the Son who is the beloved; God the Holy Spirit who is the shared love who proceeds from both as a sigh of breath by which we have a share in communion with the Trinity. See that marriage is the highest icon of God, as the husband and the wife, who freely give of themselves to each and from each, produce another.
