We have an early Sunday service at 8 a.m., where masks are mandatory throughout. The second service is at 10 a.m., and is also shared on our Facebook page.
Pastor started a two-part message on rewards. We’re here now, but what happens next? The Bible is clear about three things: we die once, there is judgment for all, and there is a certainty of reward/consequence. For unbelievers, it’s a single-issue judgment: belief in Christ or not, judged at the throne of God.
However, none of us meet the moral standard, but Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection paid our debt. So, when believers stand before the judgment seat of Christ, his righteousness covers them. Then, four rewards are given. The crown of life, which is eternal life given to those who in faith love and accept Christ. The crown of righteousness, when we are no longer tormented by temptation to sin or its presence. The crown of glory is given to pastors and elders who faithfully and lovingly shepherd the flock. And authority, believers who will in some way rule with Christ. This is given to those who persevere, holding on faithfully to God’s word, love and service.
We don’t live our lives in order to gain these rewards; we live and serve out of love and gratitude for Jesus who loved us first.
