Our Wednesday meal and group meetings start at 6 p.m. The monthly hymn sing is Sunday, June 3, 6 p.m.
The theme of our upcoming national conference this summer is “Transformed.” On Sunday Pastor Ethan Kallberg spoke about Saul/Paul’s transformation. Saul was a Jew, a Pharisee. He was zealous for religious traditions, educated, and totally focused on eradicating Christianity.
Saul approved and witnessed Stephen’s martyrdom and heard Stephen’s message of love and forgiveness as he died. Then, Saul headed to Damascus where he saw the light of the resurrected Christ. Then he heard the voice of Christ asking him why he was persecuting him. Saul thought he was helping God, but he knew this was a voice not to be ignored. He was called by name and was completely shaken, realizing Jesus was the Messiah and was alive.
Saul surrendered and asked what he should do next. He’s directed to go to Damascus and wait. None of us like to wait; we want to know everything now. Saul allowed God to work. If God could soften one of history’s hardest hearts, he can work with any one of us, wherever we are.
