Haven MacDonald King, 80, a longtime Craftsbury resident and more recently of Enosburg Falls, died on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at the Northwestern Medical Center with his family at his side.
Born at Cottage Hospital in Barton on May 24, 1942, he was the son of the late Millard Henry and Margaret Lois (MacDonald) King.
On Aug. 4, 1991, in Milton, he married Barbara Davis, who survives him.
He graduated from Craftsbury Academy in 1960 and then joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War, receiving his honorable discharge in 1962.
Haven had a long career in farming and the maple industry having been named Vermont Maple Person of the year in 2005. He was a longtime buyer and seller for Maple Grove Products. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed his many outings with his special friend and hunting buddy, Wayne Dunbar.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Barbara of Enosburg Falls; his daughter, Kathleen King Beals and her husband, Joseph, of Ashville, Ala.; brother, Steven Gordon King; sisters, Gayle King Kroeger and Karey King Young; stepchildren, Heather Hathaway, Heath Bedell, Mary Jo Willey, Terry Taylor and Larry Taylor; as well as a special step-granddaughter, Katelyn Hathaway Snider and her son, Finn Haven; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Millard and Margaret, Haven was predeceased by his sister, Kathryn Elaine King, and brother, William Francis King.
At Haven’s request there will be no services.
Haven’s family asks that memorials in his name be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
