Tricia Follert and Emoji Nightmare

The two ladies vying for the title of Ms. Lamoille may differ from each other in their chromosomal makeup, as well as their actual makeup, but they are both appreciated for their energy.

Tricia Follert is determined to transform Morrisville into a dazzling downtown. Justin Marsh, a.k.a. drag queen Emoji Nightmare, simply transforms and dazzles.

Follert, Morrisville’s community development coordinator, dreams big for the town and swings for the fences. She has little patience for the snail’s pace of government and often just goes ahead and organizes things, such as the town’s annual Rocktoberfest event each fall.

Marsh dons big lashes and big wigs, recently started his own company — Typha Marketing — and sits on the Lamoille Area Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, helping organize the Chamber-adjacent young professionals group. As Emoji Nightmare, he and a fellow drag queen raised eyebrows in Cambridge last year reading to the town’s youth at the library.

They may live on either side of the county — Ms. Nightmare is from Cambridge, while Ms. Follert lives in Elmore — but their voices and actions echoed across the area enough to convince voters to cast their ballots to make Lamoille fabulous again.

The two of them literally stopped traffic last week as they sashayed through the middle of downtown Morrisville, showing that so-called “historic Route 100” a thoroughly modern match, as voted by you.

If you can’t be first place — that honor goes once again to Maggie Cleary, who modestly wondered last time why she won — you might as well share the silver. Bling is bling.
